Leadership #1

This week, I had the opportunity to participate in a leadership seminar organized by my employer and conducted by Königswieser.

The first day of the seminar focused heavily on the management side of leadership. We went through challenging examples from current leaders and their teams, discussed them thoroughly, and explored possible solutions.

The second day was mainly about giving feedback. We started with the theoretical aspects of how to do this effectively and then applied those learnings in a safe environment within our groups.

While both parts are, of course, essential for any team leader, I understand leadership differently. If I had to describe what leadership means to me, it would be:

  • Vision – Pointing out where the adventure is heading
  • Inspiration – Demonstrating what can be done and learning from it
  • Direction – Showing the way and accompanying, without taking their hand
  • Courage – Deciding and acting despite uncertainty
  • Integrity – Staying true to one’s words and values

Since there are two more seminar sessions, I’m curious whether they will also touch on my understanding of leadership. Stay tuned for #2 and #3.
